We created this recipe to prove that flavor and health don’t have to be compromised for a quick weeknight supper. The secret is in the simple yet effective ingredients: pan-seared garlic, fresh lemon juice, and rich butter combine to create a sauce that is tangy, creamy, and completely irresistible, while the juicy chicken breast coated in savory Parmesan creates a crispy exterior.
It’s nutrient-dense and high-protein without sacrificing comfort. Moreover, it can be served with steamed greens or vegetables, roasted vegetables or potatoes, mashed potatoes, or pasta. For us, it is a perfect date-night recipe that will definitely impress your partner.
Ingredients Breakdown for Parmesan Chicken Fillet
For the Chicken:
- Chicken fillet: We are using chicken breast cut into fillets and tenderized with a mallet. This will help in flavor to penetrate the chicken and to cook the chicken evenly and more quickly.
- All-purpose Flour: Flour will help in giving the chicken fillet a crispy crust.
- Eggs: We are using eggs for coating the chicken. It actually makes the ingredients like Parmesan stick to the chicken. It also gives the fillet a brown crispy crust.
- Salt and Pepper: Of course, you must season the egg mixture to avoid bland-tasting chicken.
- Parmesan: It is the star of the recipe. It gives the dish a savory and cheesy flavor.
- Parsley: Parsley adds an element of freshness to the dish.
- Chili pepper: If you like a little kick with the Parmesan chicken fillet, then it is a must to add.
- Olive oil: It adds a mild taste to the chicken. Also, we are using olive oil to avoid the butter from browning too.
- Butter: We are cooking the fillets in butter for extra buttery richness.
For the Sauce:
- Vegetable broth: We are using vegetable broth for the main body of the sauce. We think a simple vegetable broth complements the taste of lemon and garlic really well.
- Balsamic vinegar: It adds a little sweetness to the sauce, which perfectly balances the bold flavor of lemon and parmesan.
- Garlic: Garlic adds a spicy garlicky flavor to the sauce.
- Thyme: It adds a herby freshness to the lemon garlic sauce.
- Lemon juice: It is one of the main ingredients for this sauce. We highly recommend using the fresh juice.
- Parsley: It adds a hint of freshness and a pop of color, too.
- Butter: Butter emulsifies within the sauce, making it taste rich and buttery.
