Our broiled chicken breast can be ready in just under 30 minutes total, from start to finish, preparation included! It still comes out with that flavor and juiciness that you would expect from a dish like this.
The great thing about broiling the chicken is that, contrary to pan-fried or baked chicken breasts, it comes out amazingly caramelized on the outside, juicy on the inside, and crusted with pieces of roasted garlic and herbs. All of that without the potential issues of pan-frying.
Broiling the chicken is like the best of both worlds: slow cooking and baking. Why? Because it comes out as flavorful as slow cooking and as healthy as baking!
Very few ingredients, flavor, quickness and how healthy (protein loaded and VERY low carbs) it is makes this recipe and all time favorite and a go-to one!
Ingredients
Very few and easy to get ingredients, which you probably already have in your kitchen. We included some variations in case you want to play around with it:
- Boneless/skinless chicken breasts – Make sure they weren't fed antibiotics, that they were pasture raised and just as organic as they can be.
- Avocado oil – avocado oil is a great cooking oil and probably as healthy as extra virgin olive oil, but we wanted a slightly different flavor for this recipe. It also has a higher smoke point to cook at higher temperatures. So, we chose to go with avocado oil.
- Sea salt – One of the key ingredients is sea salt, for seasoning purposes. We prefer it over table salt due to it being less processed.
- Black pepper – Also for seasoning, and we don't recommend you skip it!
- Garlic powder – Probably the biggest key in the flavor of this recipe is the garlic powder. Delightful!
- Smoked paprika – Adds that final seasoning touch that, when mixed with the others, give the broiled chicken breast a taste that keeps one coming back to it!
Ingredients Variations
You can use these variations and experiment with them. Even though this is not the original recipe, we believe that your broiled chicken breast will turn out just fine with these variations:
- You can use olive oil or ghee spray instead of avocado oil.
- Half a teaspoon of onion powder could be added for seasoning.
- If you're on the spicy-tasting side, you can add a quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper to satisfy your spicy taste.
Preparation
For the full instructions please go to the recipe card below.
This is only a quick overview so that you have a general idea of what the instructions will look like:
- Have your equipment ready – Rim a baking sheet with foil and grease it with the oil.
- Slice the chicken breasts
- Season the chicken – Spray it with oil, season it, then spray some more oil.
- Broil – Broil for 3 minutes, then flip/season/oil, then broil for another 4-5 minutes. Internal temperature should be about 165°F.
- Let it rest – The breasts should absorb the juice within 5 minutes.
